What Is A Bleed Ring?

Bleed Ring is a type of connection in piping where single or multiple radial connections allow pipes to fit in. It can be between standard flanges that have bolt circles with gaskets. Raised Face Bleed Rings have a raised face for extra grip and easy handling. Industrial Bleed Rings can come in different materials. The Stainless Steel Bleed Rings are made up of stainless steel and the Carbon Steel Bleed Ring made of carbon steel. There are different standards involved. The ASME B31.3 Bleed Rings conform to the B31.3 safety standards and are usually used in petroleum and oil refineries.

What Is A Bleed Ring Used For?

To make sure that the flow of liquid is limited to one direction and to prevent leakages, Drip Rings are used with flanges. SS Bleed Rings are made of low alloys to be used in low pressure systems. The API 5000 Bleed Ring is a range which has rings up to 24 inches in diameter. The Drip Ring can be used in high corrosion environments where the nickel alloy is resistant to corrosion. The measurements and the Bleed Ring Flange Dimensions differ according to standards, specifications and use cases. In applications where high strength, low corrosion rates and low weight are expected, the Alloy Steel Bleed Rings are good choice. There are heavier and lighter rings such as the ASME B16.48 Series A and B Bleed Rings.
