What Are Expander Flanges?


An Stainless Steel Expander Flange, generally referred to as EXPF, is similar to a weld neck flange. The only difference between a weld neck flange and an Industrial Expander flange is that the hub of the expander flange expands to a larger size. In fact, the ss expander flanges produced in our factory can be expanded to even two sizes larger.

Properties of Stainless Steel Expander Flange include excellent corrosion resistance across a wide range of atmospheric environments, good machining properties, along with good resistance to oxidation corrosion. Expander Weld Neck Flanges can be used in intermittent service at a temperature which ranges to 870°C and if these flanges are used in continuous service, they can be used to an elevated temperature of up to 925°C. Duplex steel expander flanges have higher tensile strength at elevated temperatures, while having good resistance to carbide precipitation as well. Expander Weld Neck Flanges can be used to change the size of a pipe run. These are mostly used to increase the line size to the first and second larger size. This is an alternative to using a separate reducer and weld neck flange both. A Stainless Steel Expander Flanges slide directly over the pipe and are most commonly used with stub end fittings.
